Earthquake safety tips for my neighborhood

 ✅ Before an Earthquake

Prepare a kit: Stock water, non-perishable food, flashlight, batteries, first aid, and medications.

Secure your home: Fasten heavy furniture, water heaters, and shelves to walls.

Make a plan: Decide safe spots in each room (under sturdy tables, away from windows).

Know exits: Keep clear escape routes and practice evacuation drills.

Stay informed: Sign up for local emergency alerts.

⚡ During an Earthquake

Drop, Cover, and Hold On:

Drop to the ground.

Cover your head and neck under a sturdy table and desk.

Hold on until the shaking stops.

Stay indoors: Do not run outside—most injuries happen near exits.

Stay away from balcony , mirrors, and heavy objects that could fall.

If outside: Move to an open area, away from buildings, trees, and power lines.

If driving: Stop safely, away from overpasses, tunnels, and power lines. Stay inside the car until shaking stops.

🏠 After an Earthquake

Check for injuries: Provide first aid if needed.

Inspect for hazards: Gas leaks, fires, downed power lines, or damaged walls/ceilings.

Be prepared for aftershocks.

Use text or social media instead of phone calls to avoid network overload.

Help neighbors, especially elderly or disabled residents.

Follow official instructions from local authorities.
